The Challenge: All-Stars Episode 8 Recap

The challenge

MTV’s The Challenge: All-Stars Episode 8 Recap “Mo Money Mo Problems”

The episode starts off with the cast celebrating making it to the finals. Mark reflects on how he’s able to compete at this level at 50 years old. It blows my mind every time someone mentions he’s 50. Only he and Jennifer Lopez can look this good at 50, it’s ridiculous.

Aneesa and Jisela talk about their argument from episode 6. Jisela says she’s all about being fair and forgiving but wants people to be held accountable. Aneesa explains her side and THIS is how you disagree with a friend in your 40’s.

The Challenge

TJ announces they are starting the final. It will be multiple days and consist of a bunch of mini-challenges. Every mini-challenge they will be with a different opposite-sex partner and will get times and assigned points based on the times. At the end of the final, the person with the highest points will win the $500,000.

TJ says the person who is last to the second checkpoint will be eliminated.

First checkpoint

Everyone has their own puzzle to do but they need to wait for their partners before getting in a canoe to row to the second checkpoint.

The pairs are Easy and KellyAnne, Alton and Aneesa, Mark and Ruthie, Yes and Jemmye, and Darrell and Jonna. There are some people who cruise through this puzzle and others take longer. It doesn’t end up mattering though because the canoe is the great equalizer. They have to row a really long time so it gives people a chance to catch up, and others a chance to really blow their lead.

Derrick and Jisela are actually in their canoe backward. They get tangled in weeds, they have to turn around, and are the last ones to Checkpoint 2. I am so sad they’re eliminated because they’re so great. Like true all-stars, they take their loss with grace and humor.

Second Checkpoint

The new teams are Jonna and Yes, Darrell and Jemmye, Ruthie and Easy, Mark and Aneesa, and Alton and KellyAnne.

Their new challenge is to build their own bicycles, then bike them TETHERED together to the next checkpoint. I was really surprised and impressed at how many people knew how to build a bike. I would have timed out at this point because I’m clueless. It was actually a fun twist to have them build their own bikes because people’s pedals start falling off, they realize parts are in the wrong places, and I am a lot less impressed.

Third Checkpoint

Why are there so many puzzles?! This is the longest day ever!

After yet another puzzle, the teams have to switch and eat 2 Carolina Reaper Peppers each. Remember these from Tez and Nehemiah’s elimination? So they know these are no joke. Everyone is throwing up, Darrell wants a medic, people are falling over, Jemmye says her stomach is all cramped up. This looks disgusting. They have to walk tethered together like this with their partner to the next checkpoint, and for some people, this is going to be the hardest part. This looks like it might take out the big dog challengers like Darrell.

Of course they split the final into 2 parts so we’ll pick up here next week!

Final thoughts

Again, with the songs. Shoutout to whoever thought to play TLC’s “Waterfalls” when Aneesa and Alton tipped over their canoe, that made me laugh. They mention a reunion show and I’m excited about that. Hopefully, Jisela and Alton have kept this romance up!
